'I don’t apologise for what I said' – Wiley

PrintReport Tweet This Share on facebook Share

To be honest, we're feeling a little in shock after what we've just heard on Bobby Friction’s show, this night, 7th February 2011. And also at the fact that we’ve never heard one person say the words ethnic banter so many times in ten minutes!

A few days ago, Desi-Box filled you in on the Twitter beef occurring between grime artist Wiley, and r’n’b superstar, Jay Sean. However, we’re days down the line now and boy, stuff is still going down!

After a huge backlash against him from thousands of Jay Sean fans, what started out as something between two people, transformed quickly into something between Wiley and a whole entire race. Wiley has been accused as being racist and ignorant by many, many Asian people and with a quick look at his Twitter profile, you can clearly see why.

Invited onto Bobby Friction’s show to explain his side of things tonight, in our opinion, Wiley has just made himself look a whole lot worse. He started off by explaining the whole situation with Jay Sean, which, now that he’s put his points across, we can try to understand. But when questioned on his racist tweets, it seemed that Wiley, kept using the phrase ethnic banter and just wouldn’t let go. Now, correct us if
we're wrong, but surely ethnic banter is the politically correct version of the term racism when it’s at home, no?

If I had anything against Asians I wouldn’t wait 32 years to show it - It was a classroom thing that occurred there
Wiley.

When asked about his I can slap a turban off tweet to another Twitter user, which offended hundreds and hundreds of members of the Sikh community, Wiley had the audacity to reply ...prior to me saying that, the black jokes that got said to me made it viable for me to say what I said Bob. If you say something to me, I’ll say something to you.... we guess what we got here was a man who has obviously never heard the saying, An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind; and that’s exactly what he was doing – turning a blind eye to the ridiculousness of his behaviour.

Further on, Wiley ended the interview early, stating he was not going to apologise for what he said, I want sorrys from the other side, before I say sorry. He left the show on the note that he would be returning with examples of racist tweets he had received from Jay Sean fans, in order for this to be a proper debate, likening it to a court case scenario. If and when part 2 does come around, we wonder if Wiley will be a man, and accept that the things he has said, or rather ‘tweeted’, have been plain wrong.

we’ll leave you on this note: only a guilty man runs away...  Let’s see if he can come back and can truly justify the things he’s said. Desi-Box will be here to keep you informed every step of the way.

a guilty man runs away. well said. hes just acting like a child who is convinced that it is ok to say something racist because another person says it first. he could have just let it go like Jay but i guess his ego just didnt let him do that. Oh well.
