Raxstar the street fighter is back with 'Dhalsim'

The Asian Music Scene, it seems, is really the place to be right now! Dhalsim, one of the original 8 characters who started out in Nintendo’s first fighting game, Street-Fighter, has made his first musical debut in a track, aptly named after himself. However, being an animated computer game character whose skills lie in warding off evils spirits and the like, you wouldn’t really expect him to sing or rap or anything like that, would you? See, when we say he’s made his musical debut, we mean his name has made its musical debut. And what better way to do this, than to be the name of urban sensation, Raxstar’s brand new track?

Dhalsim is the brand new purely hip-hop track from one of our favourite Asian rappers, talking about his journey, his passion and the struggle that can come with trying to establish yourself as an independent rapper in a not-so-forgiving music scene. From the word go, the beat and the bars that follow distinguish this as a unique Raxstar style sound, retaining the personality that we’ve always loved, the modesty that we admire and the rapping skills that time after time, always seem to blow us away.

Indeed, Raxstar has been a very busy boy this year, having released his EP About A Girl; collaborating with other urban artists such as Arjun on Stargazer; and of course, releasing the hit that is the ultimate urban-Asian breakup/makeup track, Jaaneman. Dhalsim proves to us that Raxstar is neither a one-hit nor a two-hit wonder - he is a rapping wonder all in himself and if he can continue to showcase his talents in such articulate ways, he can surely reach the top.

In his original story, Dhalsim the Street-Fighter character was a pacifist who went against his beliefs by entering the World Warrior competition to raise money for his village. In the end, Dhalsim did win and returned home on his magnificent elephant, Kodal. Show your support to our boy now, and listen to the track right now and maybe one day, we’ll be waiting with coloured flags and screams of excitement to greet our own musical hero riding home on what could possibly be his own golden, ghetto, rapping elephant (or maybe a slick BMW instead?). We know that it’s definitely possible.

Look out for Raxstar’s debut album, Faith & Patience set to be released later this year!
