Seminar releases 'Do Your Own Thing'
When Justin Timberlake released Sexy Back in 2006, our boy Seminar put a bit of a twist to the track, adapting it to his forté and creating the Sexy Rap. The deal with Seminar is that he likes to do his own thing, no questions asked. So much so that he decided to dedicate his track to the practice.
When you look at music videos nowadays what do you see? The average man walking in to the middle of a grassy field to start a session of body popping in his best, suit right? Well, maybe not before now. The days of flash cars, hot girls and Jacuzzi tubs have gone. The craziness doesn’t end there but you’ll witness that for yourself within a few minutes when you ‘Youtube’ the video. As you will come to realise, sticking to commercial standards is clearly not on Seminar’s agenda, neither through his electro fused with grime beats nor through his controversial lyrics.
Another rapper on the scene, as if our scene isn’t already flooded with enough “new urban artists”. We can’t deny that the rap scene is big – in size at least – we’ve all been approached with mixtapes walking through the streets of London Town. We all observe PR companies and music promoters screaming about how their rapper is “The next big thing in the urban scene.” Unfortunately, it has become quite a cliché. But not every rapper walking the streets of London is hotly tipped as such by BBC’s specialist DJ, Bobby Friction. This may give some weight to the case and turn a few heads, but when you hear the tracks for yourself, we’re positive that it wil turn yours too.
Adapting and developing his musical personality and performance over the years, Seminar has been sat in his studio perfecting his art... in Slough. That’s right – he’s a UK brother, born and bred. His refined approach has only recently found a niche in the UK urban scene, which will soon witness his raw talent explode. A promising artist with astounding potential, Seminar promises to deliver his innate passion for a fresh style of rap to his musical audience. He has “a sharp tongue and beautiful mind” and he’s finally ready to showcase it. Not only that, but he’s got an ear for the beat too and nearly every beat you hear him spit over is his own.
Ricky Gervais may have made Slough famous for all the wrong reasons but believe me when I say this fiery MC talent is no David Brent! – Bobby Friction: DJ, Television & Radio Presenter.
Do Your Own Thing is one of four tracks, comprising the brand new EP produced by Seminar, featuring Seminar. Out now on iTunes and all good digital distributors don’t forget to download your copy.
