Shizzio vists the Great Ormond Hospital

UK artist Shizzio recently took time out of his schedule to experience an eye-opener and meet and hang out with some of his fans at the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

After being contacted by the brother of Zain Sudagar, one particular patient at the hospital, Shizzio decided to pay his fans a visit. Shizzio tells us how the patients, most just children, some even babies, had to make use of a dialysis machine 4-5 hours a day, 3 times a week. The artist humbles himself in saying he is not a very well known musician, however that the kids were overly excited and happy to see him. Shizzio said, One girl was 4yrs old... So cute it was unbelievable... These tubes in her neck and she was acting like it was nothin’ and just smiling.

Zain Sudagar is just one of many patients who are in need of a kidney. The 16 year old was diagnosed with kidney failure at just 12 months of age, and has since underwent paediatric dialysis at home as well as making regular visits to the hospital, some being overnight stays, and other being weekly. After just under 7 years, Zain suffered severe rejection of one of the new kidneys, resulting in him having to be re-admitted to hospital where tests confirmed that the kidney had no function. After being operated upon on numerous occasions, Zain has been on dialysis now for approximately 3 years, awaiting a kidney donor.

All the money in the world can't prepare you for what these kids go through and I was just in one ward!! What a humbling experience. – Shizzio, via Twitter.

Statistics show South Asians are a worrying 3 to 4 times more likely to need a kidney transplant than the rest of the general population. The NHSBT (National Health Service: Blood and Transplant) site, reads, South Asians make up 4% of the population, but nearly 14% of those registered as waiting for a kidney transplant are Asian and only 1% of those on the NHS Organ Donor Register are of Asian ethnic origin.

As the brother of Zain, it was a wonderful experiance to see such emotion from Shizzio seeing not only my brother, but others on the ward. At the same time, seeing the sense of happiness from Zain and other patients felt heartwarming due to Shizzio's kind nature.

I must say it was my humble request to invite Shizzio over to Great Ormond Street Hospital to see my young brother Zain, not only did Shizzio meet Zain, he met other patients who were also in need of a kidney...
Shizzio wholeheartedly accepted the proposal of coming to visit although it meant sacrificing his time away from work which i have utmost respect for...

Not only Did Shizzio make those on the ward especially my young Brother Zain smile, I also saw a side to him i knew existed but never shown, he was emotionally touched by what he had just seen and experianced and it was my confirmation that he is someone who does actually show his moral support and concern where matter is concerned...

It is as simple as this, a small unplanned visit that has caused a smile on children's faces and that is something that is priceless...

upon leaving, Shizzio did make a promise that he will be back, such dedication is what we should admire about him...

lots of love and respect going out to Shizzio for not only making those children on the ward smile, but for allowing yourself the experiance being surrounded by those in need and difficulties.
