Balwinder - Gadian Te Gallan - PRESS RELEASE

The ambitions of Balwinder were apparent from a very early age, where his first actions saw him singing folk classics and experimenting with the keyboard. At age 11 Balwinder was lucky enough to get his first Vaja (harmonium) which was the start of his musical journey.

Later on at high school, Balwinder teamed up with his brothers to form a band called Veer Sangeet.  They performed at many religious events across the midlands, earning a great response and support from the community.

In 1985 Balwinder joined Ekta Group of Walsall, where he joined forces with a then unknown singer called Malkit Singh, who later gained fame with Golden Star.  Ekta Group released their first album ‘Yaar Di Nishani’ on EMI label where Balwinder first featured as a recording vocalist.

After 4 years with Ekta, Balwinder decided to depart and join forces again with his brothers to form a band by the name of ‘Toofan’, that  went on to release ‘Dance of the Nation’ on the Multitone Label and ‘Too Fantastic’ on Nachural Records.

The next step for Balwinder was as the lead vocalist for the Band Baja Boys, a band which was formed and managed by Danny Choranji (DCS).  Band Baja Boys were then signed by the Moviebox label, and their debut album had the acclaim of also being the first project of the now mighty label. The first album, ‘The Biz’ was soon followed by ‘Back in Bizniz’, produced by multi talented producer/singer Sukshinder Shinda; this also happened to be Sukshinder Shinda’s debut as a producer.

As the journey continued, Balwinder worked alongside many producers, including Hunterz, Kami K, Amit Rai and many more.  He sung internationally, playing many festivals in India and also had his vocals recorded in New Delhi.  Over the past few years Balwinder has been a backing vocalist for Jassi Sidhu, whilst waiting for the release of his latest offering, Gadian Te Gallan.

This new album has seen Balwinder work alongside some of the industries finest producers, and has a varied genre of songs. From classic desi bhangra to easy listening ballads, from Punjabi pop to fusion, there is something on this album to please everyone.
