Imran Khan clears up controversy and reveals future plans
It’s unbelievable that the astronomical success that is Imran ‘Amplifier’ Khan has not done a radio interview in one whole year, yet it’s true. However, his name is still huge and his accomplishments within and beyond the Asian Music Industry speak for themselves. Apart from somehow astonishingly handling 375 shows in a 365 day year, where else has he been and what else has he been up to? Are all the negative stories surrounding him true? Did he really turn down Akshay Kumar?
Radio 1 legend, Nihal, kick-started the month of March with an exclusive interview with the man himself, asking all those questions we’ve all been burning to know the answers too, and more.
Firstly, as we’ve all wanted to know, why did Imran Khan and Eren E, talented producer of his debut album Unforgettable part ways? Imran explained to Nihal, that Eren had his own view of music and didn’t want to stick with just me. From the outset, to the on looking audience that have been keeping up-to-date with the world of Imran Khan, Imran’s recent decisions of shunning his old team haven’t reflected a great impression of him, and as Nihal put it, It looks like you got a bit of fame, it went to your head, and you sacked everyone. With a chance to defend himself and put the record straight, Imran defined his moves as being for the ‘Panjabi scene’ and not for the fame or the money.
In regards to the drink and drug stories that seemed to follow Imran around last year, he admitted to everything, as well as becoming a bit of a ‘diva’, but proudly stated that he has got rid of all the darkness in his life and is now no longer involved in any of that.
Talking of darkness, this musical mastermind is now moving onwards and upwards towards what looks to be a bright future. Staying true to himself, Imran admitted to saying no to Akshay Kumar when he rang from Bollywood, suggesting a Hindi version of the blow-up track Amplifier. He didn’t see this saying no to a Bollywood superstar as a big thing.
Nevertheless, Imran is working hard on his second album, and told Nihal he has now completed 5 tracks on the album, which will have more of a house vibe rather than the typical commercial element. Admitting to having also chosen a name for the album but not being able to disclose that information just yet, Imran has definitely got his fans waiting on the edge of their seats for the album which is due to drop in early/mid 2012.
Finally, Imran ended the interview with a little bit of what we all love: some exclusive never-before-heard news!
After some thinking time away, Imran spoke excitedly about his future and establishing his business, Imran Khan World. And then he dropped it... Yes, Imran Khan is going mainstream and working
exclusively on a track with 2 time Grammy Award winner, T-Pain. Imran Khan featuring T-Pain.
Hopefully this interview has helped to clear up any controversy surrounding the Dutch Panjabi singer in your minds, but either way be sure to watch this space, as it appears Imran Khan has now got his feet firmly back on the ground, with big things coming our way.
