The brilliant and super talented musical maestros that are (PHS) Panjabi Hit Squad are back with their highly anticipated new studio album World Famous. This will be their fourth album and will feature collaborations from huge artists such as Alyssia, Raghav, Krishna (Maula Mere from the film Chak De India), Richa Sharma (Sajada from My Name Is Khan), Saini Surinder, Jaspinder Narula and another two ‘secret’ artists.
 
For those of you who haven’t heard of Panjabi Hit Squad before then here’s a quick introduction to get you up to speed. The West London based group was formed in 2001 and comprised of four members – Rav, Dee, Markie and Amo. They decided to create a new genre which fused Bhangra with Street music: known as ‘Desi Beats’. They worked hard to use their music to create a bridge towards the Black music scene which resulted in a signing to Def Jam in 2003. This resulted in a number of collaborations with world-class artists such as Mariah Carey, Ashanti, Bobby Valentino
etc. Their smash hit Hai Hai was the first Asian video to reach No.1 in the MTV Base chart and Jay-Z also sampled the track on his song ‘Higher’.  Over the years the group have released several albums and have worked with artists such as Jay Sean (Remixes of ‘Ride It’ & ‘Maybe’) , Alyssia (‘Deewana’ and ‘Tera Pyar’) etc. They have won numerous awards for their work and radio shows also.

The new album World Famous is due for release in September 2011 and the squad will also be releasing Alyssia's second solo album towards the end of this year/early next year. Check out a snippet of the track Miss Sohniyeh below, The song is unique in its sound with a reggae infused beat and features vocals from Harleen Akhter and the man Dee himself.
