Ji-Madz - Ek Peg - PRESS RELEASE!
Biography
Ji-MADZ (Jitty Madahar) was born and raised in the heart of UK Bhangra culture – Handsworth, Birmingham. His passion for music was evident from a young age – as was his Individuality. Whilst many young Asians with musical flair opt for the traditional, percussion-based instrument, Ji-MADZ’ attention was drawn to the bass guitar. A very close friend (Prem Nayer) encouraged and assisted him further. With Prem Nayer’s guidance and his own determination, Ji-MADZ began to flourish as a musician and fast built up a reputation as a respected member of the live circuit. When he was selected as bass player for the then newly-formed XLNC, Ji-MADZ got his first taste of success. After the phenomenal success of the highly acclaimed album ‘R U Ready’, XLNC became an overnight success, performing at exclusive venues throughout the UK, as well as touring in Canada, America and Europe on a continual basis. XLNC were the first Bhangra band to perform live in Tokyo, Japan. The band went on to win many accolades, including Best Newcomer, Best Song, Best Band and Best Live Act. Performances include:
Central Park, New York - ‘SUMMERSTAGE 1994’.
Tour of Canada and USA with XLNC - 1994, 1995, 1996.
Centenary Square, Birmingham City Centre - New Years Eve 1996, with over 100,000 in attendance.
Wonderland, Toronto - Vaisakhi Mela 2002 & 2003.
Tour of Australia, Spain and Morocco – ‘World Music Festival’ 2004, performing with Malkit Singh.
World Tour 2005 with Jazzy B, for the album ‘Romeo’.
Ji-MADZ experienced an incident which changed his life overnight. During this difficult time in his life, it was Ji MADZ’s love of music, which gave him a ray of light and hope. He had been granted another chance at life and it became apparent to him which direction he wanted his life to go. To fulfil this journey, he started to enhance his already developed musical knowledge. Already a successful bass player, Ji-MADZ started to study the keyboard alongside the acoustic guitar. He also familiarised himself with the more traditional tumbi, mandolin and waja as he felt this was fundamental in order to become a music producer. Once again, with the guidance of Prem Nayer, Ji-MADZ ventured into the sphere of Music Production, which included learning the relevant software in order to record, as well as creating a new sound in music.
This resulted in the production of his debut album ‘An Artistic Approach’... “My aim as a music producer is to touch my listener’s hearts” Ji MADZ
