Hot new British Asian singer Shahid Khan has burst onto the music scene with a unique sound and versatile voice that is set to resonate with all who hear him sing. Inspired by a wide range of artists and trained in Indian classical music, Shahid Khan has an incredible and powerful voice, naturally gifted to accommodate a wide repertoire of styles. His debut album Heartfelt which is available to buy on www.amazon.co.uk features eight tracks. The first track to be released from the album is called Oh Kuri which is a Bhangra Latina inspired track, co-produced by the acclaimed salsa producer Alex Wilson and has proven a big hit with Salsa clubbers and Bhangra lovers everywhere. The album also features a great Bollywood remix of the legendary song Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers, another must-hear track from the amazing album.

It was influential, award-winning British Asian musician, composer and producer Kuljit Bhamra MBE who first spotted Southall based Shahid in a local Asian Starsearch Talent Competition over eight years ago. Kuljit who has worked with My Hips Don’t Lie Columbian singer Shakira and popular British girl band Sugarbabes, recognised Shahid’s talent from an early age and has since gone onto mentor Shahid and produce his debut album Heartfelt.

Kuljit says: Shahid Khan is one of the UK’s hottest new talents and is most importantly offering something different and undeniably unique to listeners. He represents a new breed of a young classic singer voice whose sound is closest to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Adnan Sani. It is great that we have a new British Asian sound to develop that appeals to first and second generation Asian communities as well as mainstream audiences.

Shahid Khan has also been part of the long running dub-step band Engine –Earz and the Mantra project with singers Orlando Consort. In April of this year he became a hit sensation overnight thanks to his appearance on the TV documentary Goldie’s Band-By Royal Appointment. The programme which was aired on BBC 2 followed electronic music artist and DJ Goldie on a mission to discover young people whose talent and passion for music was at the centre of their lives. After a personal nationwide search, twelve young musicians were mentored by a team of industry experts including composer Guy Chambers, jazz artist Soweto Kinch and singer/songwriter Cerys Matthews.

Shahid
was selected to perform in front of HRH Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace and says of the experience: Working with Goldie was an amazing and surreal experience. His influence and knowledge really helped me and working with other artists has been such a great collaborative experience that we are coming together to form a new band named 12LVE. Talent Competitions have always been a great way for me to get recognised and I was honoured when I was selected to perform in front of HRH Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace, who seemed to enjoy the sound we had created.
