Most Bollywood filmmakers and big production houses always vie to ensure their films are relased on celebratory holidays and festive weekends in order to lock potential box office success.

This has been seen with the triple success of Salman Khan and his films which have released during Eid for the last three years and the two upcoming film relases of the Badashah of Bollywood Sharukh Khan with Ra. One for Diwali weekend and Don 2 during the Christmas holidays.

The clash in question is for next year, on the 26th January 2012. The date was supposed to mark the eagerly awaited release of Reema Kagti’s untitled film starring Aamir Khan as well as the Priyadarshan directed thriller Tezz. The Reema Kagti production will now be released at a later date as Aamir believes that extensive post production is needed.

But Tezz is no longer the only powerhouse film to be releasing on the Republic Day Weekend, as Karan Johar tweeted this morning Agneepath is now releasing on the 26th of January, 2012. The Dharma prodcutions epic Agneepath has now been moved from its original 13th January planned release date to 26th January.

That same weekend, is also the provisional release date of acclaimed independent filmmaker Dibaker Banejeee film Shanghai starring Emraan Hashmi and Abhay Deol.

Which film will come out on top and dominate the weekend of 26th January? Only time will tell.
