The upcoming romantic comedy Barfee which stars Ranbir Kapoor opposite the multi talented Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra, is directed by critically acclaimed Anurag Basu.

Given Anurag’s track record of directing dramas and thrillers such as Gangster and Life... in a Metro, many believed that Barfee would also be an overall serious film, especially given that Ranbir is reportedly playing a deaf and mute man and Priyanka will be apparently playing a role of a mentally challenged woman. However Ranbir has clarified that this is not the case. According to our sources Ranbir has stated that Barfee is actually a very sweet heart warming romcom.

Shooting for the film has mostly taken place earlier this year and a release date was scheduled towards the end of 2011. However the film has now been pushed back to release in May 2012 due to scheduling issues.

Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in this forthcoming release Rockstar opposite American Model Nargis Fakhri which also features the late Shammi Kapoor.
