Free entry on March 6th exhibition - london - Indian photography over the last 150 years
A free Family Day of photography workshops inspired by images from India, Pakistan & Bangladesh on show at the Whitechapel Gallery
Families are invited to dress up and create a family portrait to take home, learn how to make a pin-hole camera or x-ray style images, and take a guided tour of the galleries during a day-long celebration of photography inspired by the exhibition Where Three Dreams Cross: 150 Years of Photography from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The Whitechapel Gallery is family friendly with a cloakroom, baby changing facilities and a children’s menu available in the café.
Photo Album Family Day events ongoing throughout the Gallery include:
• The Whitechapel Gallery’s Creative Studio is transformed into a photographic studio with make-up and props available. Each family can book a slot and work with the photographer Marysa Dowling to create a unique family portrait based on images from the exhibition
• An all day drop-in photography workshop teaches families how to make images using pinhole cameras and cyanotype printing (a simple method of placing an object onto photographic paper and exposing it to sunlight creating an x-ray style image). Children and adults can experiment together with both techniques and take their artwork home
• A gallery tour led by young people of the exhibition Where Three Dreams Cross: 150 Years of Photography from India Pakistan & Bangladesh.
