With the England 's chances of survival hanging on by the skin of their teeth, it would appear everyone has an opinion regarding the team's performance and chances of success. With everyone fancying themselves as a critic, Desi-Box set out to gather the ideas of some of the largest names in the asian music scene. Who will you agree with?

We presented our personalities with the following questions;

A) Which World Cup 2010 team will be triumphant?
B) What do you think Englands chances of winning are?
C) Capello; has he got what it takes to lead us to victory?

With the questions asked, let’s see what opinions arise!

Swami Baracus (Brit-Asian rapper):



A) Argentina - They've been my pick from before the tournament started. Their front three is the best in the world, and even with a shaky defence, they've got plenty of great finishers... Even Diego Milito can't get into the starting XI!

B) England's form last year showed they could've been potential winners, but with the injuries and formation issues, (plus slack goalkeeper!), means they'll be quarter-finals at best... sad to say.

C) Capello's been arguably the best club manager in Europe for the last 15 years, so he has all the qualities to take us far. But he needs to adopt premiership-style tactics and formation, to get the best out of the players. Hopefully he'll put that right against Slovenia...

Jamal Hirani (Tiffinbeats Records/ Rishi Rich Productions):

A) My money has always been on Argentina as Maradona is destined to win the world cup again and the Argentinians are mega talented.

B) I hope England go far as there are some very talented players in the team and I am a very passionate England fan.

C) We never questioned Cappelo's style during qualifications and thought discipline and firm hand was what was required to keep those millionaire egos in check. Just because we have had a couple of poor games and suddenly everyone thinks Cappelo has lost the plot. Remember, he doesn't kick the ball, the 11 players he sends out do and I think Cappelo is the right man for England.

Mumzy Stranger (Hip-Hop, MC, R&B and Soul Singer):

A) Well call me wild but I still believe footballs coming home.. England all the way.

B) I think overall we have had a bad start to the tournament but who hasn't? Footballs a funny game and I think this is our best chance to win it.

C) I don't always agree with his decisions, but I feel if our overall confidence comes back as a team he can take us all the way.

Rani Joshi (Raine Records):

A) I think the world cup has been somewhat unpredictable this year, some of the underdogs have definately taken me by surprise. I'm not a massive football fan but judging by the games so far, I think the possible running teams for the final could be: Argentina, Brazil and Germany (although losing to Serbia was shameful!). I think there is time for things to develop and unfold last minute!

B) Like Indian women playing the world cup in saris - never going to happen! Lol... on a serious note, England need to fix up and play like men with balls, except in this case, they need to only handle one and that’s on pitch!

C) So far it seems that even the professionals on screen do not agree with the way the team have been set-up. If the team are not happy with the set-up they won't play to their full potential, however, regardless of the issues, you should always try and perform your best. You're representing a country not the local youth football team. Wishing the England players the very best! Prove us wrong!

Young Archie (Producer):

A) I say England! Lol... I want England to win, but Diego 'hand of god' Maradonna's Argentina.

B) England’s chances after the 1st two games looks highly unlikely.

C) Capello did well during the qualifying stages, however it seems like he is facing a few difficulties. It is his first world cup so we'll see. Let's hope he can do it! Come on England!!

Rav Panjabi Hit Squad (Producer):

A) It’s looking like an open tournament at the moment. So many of the weaker sides are playing a better game and the better sides are not showing much. Looking as it stands it may be Argentina or Brazil but i think the runners up will surprise everyone

B)0% chance by the looks of it. Its always good to back your home country but England have played poorly and shown that they are not a strong enough team to get through to the next stage

C) yes and No. I think he's too stubborn to make changes that count and he also has a team that doesn't play well together under pressure but in his defence he has shown in the past that he is one of the best managers in the world so maybe he can turn things round

Sham D (Pop Singer):

A) It’s really hard to say, but for me I think Spain are still favourites to win!

B) The chances are very slim, I’m and England supporter but at the same time you gotta see what’s actually being played too. I hope they turn things around.

C) I think this time round the competition is real tough as much as I hate to say this England are not on top form and need a miracle, whether that be Capello's fault or not!

Menis (Hip Hop Artist):



A) I really think and want Spain to win it if England don't (which is very VERY unlikely Lol) if not them then it will be Argentina.

B) Watching the first two games I think England’s chances of winning the world cup are very slim.. They will be lucky to even get through the group stages. Let's hope for a miracle!

C) I thought Capello could be the man to take England to glory but by seeing his choice of line up & formation this world cup I don't think he is the man. I think he should of maybe taken Walcott he could of done some damage at the end of a game as a sub. If he doesn't get England passed the group stages then I'll think he'll be gone.

Pinkz (DJ):

A) Don’t know much about football, however my gut feeling tells me this year will see the worst team in history to win. Maybe.. ALGERIA

B) Remind me when the last time they won? Hmmm.... keep trying lads you will get there eventually...

C) Defo NOT!! He has as much chance of leading us into a brick wall as he is to victory... sorry guys but I think the whole country has finally given up on you!

D-Boy (Producer):

A) Germany may take the surprise win in this year’s world cup.

B) England’s chances of winning is like finding out that Presley is still alive.

C) Capello needs to sing an acapella all the way home.

Pedro (FNIK - PR):



A) Argentina.

B) No chance at all!

C) Capello should be named Crapello!

Metz (MC):

A) I think Argentina or Portugal will win the world cup however Spain and brazil are very strong....

B) England chances of winning look very slim as they really do need to up there game.....

C) Capello i think has got it all wrong and has used the wrong formation and wrong players....i really hope they can win their last game and qualify for the last 16...after that we need some magic.....and very good form.

As could have been predicted, there is a mixed response! Some harsh words to say the least..! But does the truth hurt? Who do you think has the right idea of what will unfold? With all the above considered, Desi-Box will never-the-less be supporting the England squad! So good luck tomorrow boys... do us proud!
