In October, 2008 at the MOBO Awards, Jay Sean announced that he had signed with the American Hip-Hop record label Cash Money Records. Jay explained “It’s always been a dream for me to sign to an American label. And it’s great to be accepted by the best in the game.”

Down feat Lil Wayne is the first single by Jay to be released since he joined Cash Money Records, The video for Down was first shot in London, Buckinghamshire on 24th April 2009 with Cash Money crew without Lil Wayne, the video was shot over two days. The video was finally completed in Miami, with Jay heading to the U.S. to finish the video with Lil Wayne on 30th April 2009.
